i used a vcore mod on my mobo and upped it to 1.7vcore, definatly requires wc or phase but its going good so far, backed it off to 2.8 so it would pass dual prime

Guys, I had this exact same issue running dual prime on my Opteron 165. I locked their affinities, and I noticed that even on stock, core 1 would crash out with a huge rounding error, but core two went on perfectly fine. I tried it on two different boards, updated bioses, etc, all to no avail. I also ensured that I had the latest version of Prime (if you don't have the latest version, try this first). I contacted AMD about it, and RMA'd my chip. Although he couldn't replicate the problem on his end (Joe @ AMD), he also didn't try to dual prime it. Kind as he was, though, he replaced it anyway just in case, since I did such extensive diagnostics on it already, and I even got upgraded in the process since they didn't have a 165 ready (got an Opty 170 CCBWE 0546XPMW ). Since I received this new Opteron yesterday, everything has been rock solid, dual prime and all. She's an animal, hell bent for leather. She's doing 2.5GHz @ 1.400V (I'm sure with more voltage, she'll go much, much higher, but I'm not going to press the issue right now, as I'm pretty happy with where I'm at, and the fact that I'm still within rated vcore at this speed). She levels off at 39C with my Zalman CNPS9500, after many hours of dual prime. I couldn't be happier.

I have a question: would an MSI Neo4-F need a BIOS update to be able to run a dual-core processor? If it does, would I have to use another processor to update it? Also, how well would a 4400+ overclock? Thanks a lot.

Hi there!
Im new to this Board and i have a few Questions if you don't mind!
I put my PC Together last Week and since i have been running a few test to see how it performs. I compared the results of my 4800+ X2 (n.o.) with others and the results seems pretty Good to me. However in "Real World" performing i have the feeling that my Window XP MCE is only making use of 1 Core. Everytime some App Hangs up, the entire Windows Freezes and from what i understood from Dual Core concept, this behaviour shouldn't happen cause the second core should mantain Windows functional. Am i right or maybe not?
Also a few times i had multiple Tasks running i became the feeling that Windows was putting it all on 1 single Core.
Is there a way to find out wether both Cores are working or not?
How do the Dual Core concept work? When you start multiple Tasks the Cores share the Load? If that is so, are the Cores themselves who share the load, or is it Windows?
Thank you!

Press ctrl+alt+del to bring up the task manager, go to the performance tab and you'll see 2 charts, one for each core.
