You are right, i have two charts there. Does that mean both cores are working?
What about my other Questions, Anyone??

I don't like someone using the Canadian flag with fire in place of the maple leaf. The member pjlietz is doing this and if it was any other country I would think people would get very mad.

just wondering which is a better stepping of the opty 170

CCBWE 0534SPMW
CCBWE 0546XPMW
CCBWE 0550UPMW
CCBWE 0551UPMW

just want a rough idea of what kind of OC im looking at. i was able to get my 148 to 3 GHz so i think my hardware is capable of a good OC

the best thing to do if u havent already, is to get prime95. put one copy of it on ur desktop...the other in mydocs or somthing. run 2 instances of it. under advanced in the 1st instance set cpu affinity to 0...in the 2nd instance set it to 1. then under options hit torture test in both and let it run for a few hours. that will flog both cores and tell u if anything is wrong with ur settup...u should not get any errors. actually ur problem sounds like either an overclock too high, or timings wrong-a memory problem.

is the opteron 170 really worth the extra cash? it seems people can push the 165 to the same point as a 170, so other then having a bigger number in the model name, what other benefits are there, i can get the 165 to 2.6 with air unstable, and 2.4 stable, with stock fan/heatsink

its about the multiplier. 165 has 9x, where the 170 has 10x. it allows for higher clocks, at lower FSB.

If you look at his location it says that he is from canada, and also is a member of the all canadian club or something, so Im sure no insult was intended

you know what i love, i just got my DC Opteron 170 a few days ago, sure i can't quiet get Prime stable but i am finding it impossible to crash this thing at 250x10, none of my games no matter how hard i push them will this thing crash, i can get up to around 5 hours of prime before my first core dies.. the second (although running a different test) only lasts 15 mins or so... I do however think i need better cooling to pull this off...

My Main point here is, when i was running at 235x10 with prime running for over 2 hours, i had absolutely No lag in windows whatsoever, i could still alt tab as fast as ever, and click all over the place and see no performance Dip, it is great (This is with 2xPrime 95, one Blend and one Large FFT's)

Tossing up a BT or Ninja for cooling this CPU, currently on Zalman 7700Cu

Edit:

From what i've seen...

CCBWE 0534SPMW <-- reall not sure
CCBWE 0546XPMW <-- The best
CCBWE 0550UPMW <-- Second In Line
CCBWE 0551UPMW <-- Mine... Reports of 2.75 but seems relatively rare.. and always at 1.55v

Aparently the 0551UPMW is an insane OC'er but i'm yet to see this... as stated above my cooling doesn't cut it at the moment... Water or BT/Ninja *ponders*
