Minimum Cpu For A 7800gt?

What Is The Minimum Cpu That Would Not Bottleneck A 7800gt? I Know Bottlenecks Are Not Necessarily Bad. I'm Just Curious.

I've talked to some people that say they haven't had a problem with an a64 3200 overclocked to 2.5ghz, I would suggest something that has the 1mb L2 cache, such as a 3700 or higher. I'm not all that big on Intel so I don't have any opinions on that. I'd atleast expect to have an opteron 148 or a64 3700 (or better) if you can afford the 7800 series video card.

I Know That A 3500+ Has 512kb Cache And A 3700+ Has 1 Mb. I Know That The Extra 512 Is Equivalent To 200mhz, So If I Oc A 3500+ To 2.4 Ghz Would That Help?

Any OC is good, and if you did 2.4 that'd be like having a 3800 and should go nicely with the 7800gt.

i'll tell you what, my 3.4 with 1mb cache sometimes has problems keeping up, even with the 2 gigs of ram

hey, my cpu did fine clocked at 2.5Ghz. It does even better now that I squeezed it up to 2.6. I may need to turn it down to 2.55... my temps are fine, but I think my mobo is holding me back.

anywho, my 3200 also did just fine at 2.0Ghz with 2Gb of RAM (4x512) my board wouldn't let me OC past 2.2-2.3 w/ 4 sticks. I just wanted to see how games would run w/ 2gb... mainly Quake 4.

Nothing out there will stop the bottleneck. EvilXP had his Fx55 at 3.4ghz with phasechange and he got a 17,000 GFX score in AM3 and a 15000 CPU score. Thats ONE 7800GTX barely overclocked. That just shows how much power these cards have in them.

Doesn't matter. As long as you have a better graphics card, you'll get better FPS. End of story.
