Interesting Generic PSU

Thread Starter
Well ive oc'ed my pc quite a bit now with a generic psu and funny enough it seems to have been holding on well. I am, however, suspicious of it. I think it might give in soon. I found this PSU- Antec TruePower True380 380W Power Supply. Its quite cheap and would be a nice little upgrade for my pc. Any opinions on this PSU?

dont know much about that psu mate but i dont think there is anything wrong with cheap power supplies, as long as they can put out the power stated then that is all you can ask, im currently runing a cheap 400w 16 amp 12v rail psu i got for 30 bucks Australian (very cheap) while waiting for a few parts to arrive and it seems to be going fine, even got a big oc out of it, im not sure i will be buying an expensive psu again. not if these generic ones work fine, if it lasts it lasts and if it doesnt well who cares----30 bucks!

If you can find it, the Sunbeam NUUO550 is a very dependable PS and well received, popular and modular. Many great reviews on it and very reasonable in price.
I'm ordering mine tonight for the 939 build that I'm slowly gathering parts for

I can't vouch for the reliability, but the Ultra PSU's(specifically the new X-Finity) are pretty cheap. Some people will tell you that they're absolutely terrible, and never to order from Ultra, but I've found that there a lot more cases in which the Ultra PSU's work fine. I can give you an update in about a month when my new rig is built(looks like Duke and I are slowly gathering parts at the same time).

I have (or had) both PSUs mentioned here: Ultra X-Connect and the Sunbeam Nuuo 550. The Ultra was nice with the UV cables and it looked professional, but a month or three after it was out of warranty, it blew up on me in the middle of the night while watching a movie. Because it was modular, it failedto take any components with it.

Now I have the Sunbeam Nuuo, the one in gunmetal color. I'm looking at it right now through my computer case, and it seems to live up to all the standards of the many praises found online.

Here, just think of it this way:

Ultra comments from many: Some good, some bad.

Sunbeam Nuuo comments from many: All good, absolutely NO reports of it blowing up or any malfunctions.
