i had a zalman 7000B installed yesterday and my pressy still runs hot as hell..granted its slightly cooler then it used to be went from load of 68C to 62C it idles around 50-55C and when im doing anything such as cruising the internet it swings around 55-57C..is this just to be expected? it usually only load to 60C now but has gone as high as 62C down from a max of 70 with stock cooling

It'll get a little better still once the AS5 cures, but ya, Intels run hot.

You should be seeing better temps than that. How hot is the room your computer is in? Do you have good ventilation around the case? How much thermal grease did you use?

I'd double check the heatsink and make sure it's seated completely. Try to tighten the screws on it down a little more without giving it too much force. Visually inspect the area where the heatsink is and see if anything around it could be causing it to not seat properly.

If either doesn't work, and I only recommend you do this if you have more thermal grease around, remove the heatsink and reinstall it. Make sure you put a pea sized amount of grease on the center of the IHS, and let the heatsink spread it out for you seat it.

If you're at idle, that's pretty hot. Don't try to force the screws to tighten anymore. Just give it a little bit of pressure and if it moves then tighten it up to where it's snug. Remember to use an alternating pattern (left then right then left and so on) to keep even pressure on your CPU.

I'm sure you know this but just to cover myself, never do any of these things with power on. Shutdown the rig, and turn off the PSU switch on the back. Press the power button once and you should see all the lights come on and then immediately go back off. Then and only then should you try to tighten your HSF.
