HTT on 3200+...

Thread Starter
Hi,

Got my 3200+ to 2350MHz with ram on 1:1, then it phutted out and no more, so I locked it down to 133MHz (now 160 w/overclock, and will go as far as 235 without buggering up). Currently at 2400MHz (CPU, had never gone this high before), with 1.5v Vcore, just to give me a little more headroom.

What I'm wondering is, is can i go ahead and crank the CPU up further and further so long as I keep the RAM HTT below 235? (ie 3250MHz (x10)) as it's ****e RAM.

Prime95 is stable at 2400 BTW, JSYK

I don't think its necessary to run 1:1 with AMD.

I have had my 3200 venice up to 260 x 10 stable (memory was auto, but was at 333 mhz or 166 x 2).

What I did:

VCore 1.55 (I think, whatever the max a Asus A8N SLI Deluxe will allow)
FSB 260
Muli x 10
Htt x 3
Memory Auto

just make sure that whatever you do keep the htt times the htt multi under 1000 (235x5= 1175....to high, go to 235x4 to equal 940... over 1000 and you get unstable and weird stuff happens.) what speed ram do you have? try to keep it around its rated speed for best performance by messing with dividers. also lock your PCI slots if you havn't already

Corsair VS 1gig. POS to tide me over until i get some proper RAM from www.memory-configurator.com

Currently, at the settings in the pic i'm hitting 19C idle. temp only seems to rise with vcore, not really that much with FSB. Stock speeds, the CPU was @ 12C lol!

It failed prime95 almost immediately, more Vcore sorted taht out when I hit 2400, so do I just go up again and what is the max I can go to?
Also, the htt muiltiplier is at 4, so its bang on 1000. will I bring it down to three?

plus how do you compare this to another AMD of higher + rating?

like divide 3200 by 2000 and one gets 1.6. so you just multiply your new clock by that or is it logarythmic?

HTT refers to FSB....not HT which = Hyper Transport. HT =\\= HTT and any ways, you take a big performance decrease by lowering your memory bandwidth. Try to at least keep it around 400ish if you have value ram, or crank that sucker up at a bit looser timings if you have decent ram.

Are you on Air cooling for your CPU? If so, I don't think your CPU temp sensor is giving a right reading, because you can't cool it down lower than the room temperature. Unless you were using it out in the snow or something. lol.

Lol yup, I'm on air. I've no idea what the room temp is but the air into the case isn't coming from the room

Vcore @ 1.6, HT multi at x3, RAM locked to 133MHz and FSB at 255,

But when I run Prime95 it says FATAL ERROR - rouding less than .4, which I take it is bad, it is on the maximum heat/cpu usage torture test. I take it I've hit my ceiling?
