-Nvidia forceware 81.89 (for 6600GT)
-Nvidia NF4 Pro chipset drivers
-Wireless belkin PCI card
but my computer is still acting very slow, i thought the video drivers would do it, but i guess not.. Do you know why my computer is acting slow? I have 1 gig of PC-2700 memory running 2.5-3-3-6 1T @ 166FSB but it cant be that. Suggestions?
Actually I'd say the slow RAM is the problem. You've got two processors and you're trying to run them on less than ideal memory bandwidth.
Oh, and to the person that said an X2 4800+ would be faster than two Opteron 250s, I'm curious as to what you're basing this on. Depending on the configuration the Opteron 250s could perform better if they were used on a motherboard that gave each its own memory bank instead of sharing it. Other than that the difference isn't much since on both the X2 and the SMP board the processors are communicating through the Hyper-Transport bus. And of course the 4800+ would out perform the 240s, it has an 800MHz clock speed advantage, but also costs twice as much.
I want to get me a pair of those chips too, they're so cheap it seems dumb not to, but dual Socket 940 motherboards really don't come cheap, and not really something I can do "just for fun."
