First up, businesses go bankrupt. You posted 5 devs, I bet I could find the same amount of pc devs gone over the years.

Let me offer an explanation. Consoles as we know them are relatively new. Lots of choice, smart consumers. A glut of crappy games have hit the market the past few years. PC devs know that there is less margin, so they sell based on game quality alone.

As for the NowGamers article, half those devs are PC devs, and haven't offered anything new or innovative recently.
Supply and demand. They supplied tired old games, demand fell.
The best selling games on steam are mostly indie games, with new concepts. Audiosurf, Peggle, Braid, World Of Goo. These all sold MASSIVE numbers of copies.

The article about sales down, that's to be expected. We're reaching the trailing edge of the average consoles 4-5 year lifespan, not to mention the GFC. Of course people are spending less money on them.

That EA article, he was saying that disc-based distribution is falling under. Same thing that's happening to the music industry with the advent of the ipod.

It's not just the console industry. Sales have been down across the board, and are only just starting to recover. You'll see those numbers increase next year, when people have more money to spend on games.
Also, this isn't the first time this has happened. Remember Atari?

There isn't room in the market for 3 consoles to compete, especially when the consumer forces profits to be as thin as they are.

oh really did you know pc gaming online is hot and making tons of money .It's why EA bought playfish.

maybe you should go look at what EA had to say in one of my links

here I have nother link about console gaming

http://www.businessweek.com/magazine...6057751963.htm

here let me repost it for you I mean with EA tslking about pc online gaming

http://video.foxbusiness.com/1129873...fb92724c08f046

In fact there alot of reports of companies doing well in the ression for online pc gaming.

by the way that link you post is insluting, frankly I think it's junk.personaly I think he is not really a pc gamer.

franlky I am not going to take any kind of abuse from a game dev.

I am not wasting my money on a dumb game dev like infinty ward and I will not be suprised if they go bankuprt in the future.

sorry I don't play console junk.

You DO realise that basically all the games named in the intro of that video are console games? EA would sell far more to consoles than to PCs. Any cross-platform producer would.

And you know what the overarching moral to that story is?
Digital Distribution.

Guess which platform has made the biggest push into digital distribution? PC
Guess which platform is picking up? PC

The question hanging over the industry is whether the game business will rebound once the recession lifts. Activision's Kotick insists it will when the next generation of game consoles arrives and draws new gamers.
Isn't this what I've been saying? It's called a market cycle.

This fails because the MW2 engine easily supports dedicated servers. It probably cost more money to develop IWnet to work on PC than it would have to just keep the traditional dedicated server model used in CoD 4 and WaW on the PC. The decision was made to more easily charge PC gamers for DLC.
