cpu throttle down/overclock

i want to save some money/electricity so i'm just courious as if its good to have an overclock and the cpu features to reduce clocks on when idle.

stock volt with 3ghz

stock clock = 2.4ghz 1.325vid

i do on mine. Doesn't affect stability or performance so why the hell not? Causes my dad's rig to insta-freeze though. i guess it depends on the board.

dont know about your system, but my i7920 can be used with speestep which will throttle it back when idle, its fin for me just be careful of your stability, find your highest stable point then pull that down a little as enabling it will usually make your system slightly unstable if its at the extremes
