just get a 3700+ sand diego core or opteron 148 (those are the new overclocking craze), both of whom should be near your price range.

I really wanted to get a DFI NF3 250GB and a skt 754 processor, because I want a good AGP OCing board. I just want somthing cheap that will OC very well (sub $175 range) to hold me over untill Vista and Direct X10.

Don't forget 754 has single chanel memory and sometimes you can't run two sticks at DDR400

Yes, I know. I don't really care though. I didn't notice a performance increase when I pugraded my gig of single channel pc2700 OCed to 200MHz to my current gig dual channel pc3200.

Not completely stable though.

And duh you didnt notice a increase in speed.. 754 is JUST single channel RAM, you cannot even run dual channel, so both sticks are running single channel. Plus they both are working at 200mhz anyways..

But if you want cheap and a deadly overclock, consider

The sempron would likely overclock more.. I know mine is comfy at 2.4 with 1.4Vcore, which is 800 mhz. Im sure the Venice will do 2.6 (along with that Sempron easily). But like I said, the Sempron would likely overclock more (puts out less heat) but then you missing out on the cache, but cache doesnt hit performance too much on Athlon64's. Just something to consider.

Uh, my 865PE (the chipset I have had on all 3 of my boards that I used with this processor) is dual channel. And I don't really want to get a Sempron because I'm a little afraid of the 256KB cache. I'm looking to get a cheap mobile with a meg of cache instead.
