Most definitely. Optical is never used in high end audio for this reason except for the VERY fragile glass setups, but those are dwindling in use. Btw, good cables will actually have directionality and require break-in after being moved even slightly.

How about I ask you this, which is the best cable in your opinion? Type of cable brand etc.

Without getting silly, I'll simply tell you that high end cables can cost several thousand dollars per foot. In the under $1,000 range, I really like Audioquest and Tara Labs, but used Linn cables exclusively with my system because no other cables kept the "pace" of the Linns. Buying cables is actually the final step in "tuning" a really nice home system and most dealers will allow you to audition them for a week or so before purchasing. What's right for 1 system isn't right for another. Anyways, for your system and your needs, I would go to ebay and type in "canare" and order 1 length of rca cable. All you need is 1 cable, not a pair. These will also be 75 ohm resistivity,which is imperative for digital or video use. PM if you can't find what you're looking for. There are several dealers on Ebay selling these and they're perfect for what you need and shouldn't be very expensive at all.

I was talking more along the lines of the sub $100 category For instance, the optical cable i picked out was $29.99 on sale for $19.99 on newegg, is it any good? http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16812123037
Belkin is the brand. Is that any different from the $59.99 monster?

I have 0 information on Belkin, but I can tell you that monster is severly overpriced and underperforms. It's better than the junk that's included with any purchase, but you can get far better for the same money. I strongly suggest you get a Canare RCA cable off Ebay. It should be cheaper than that Monster cable and will perform better.

Well, I would REALLY prefer newegg and seeing as how they don't carry canare, I am torn between this;

4ft Digital Fibre Optic
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812155046

and

6.6ft Digital Coaxial
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812155038

EDIT/// nevermind, I went with the Optical, the tech nerd inside me overcame me and went with the BRIGHT RED LIGHT!!

Heheh, you won't see any light when the cable is connected If you change your mind, go to your local high end stereo shop and they can stear you in the right direction. Make sure you tell them your equipment and that's it's simply for a computer setup so they don't go crazy on you. Just for fun, here's a link to some wire in case you win the lottery.

On cheaper systems the coax will pick up some interference, just like speakers pick up the incoming call on a mobile phone
