I'm looking for a router under $75.00! Will be used for a laptop and a desktop but wired to another desktop and a ps3. What should I get?

I'm sure others will agree that this is still one of the better router(G) to get.And if you don't mind flashing it is compatible with dd-wrt & tomato firmware. On sale to boot.

I have not had luck with anything other than D-links. For some reason, all others tend to last less than 15 months or so. Never tried dd-wrt as reezin mentioned, but it does appear to be a better firmware than any OEM out there. The downfall with most of the D-Links that I have had is that could not take dd-wrt ; (

Yes, the Linksys is dated, but it runs well. Probably one of the better products that Linksys made available before Cisco mucked things up. It's like the Energizer bunny, lol.

Do you need gigabit speeds on the LAN?

Most definitely - there's a reason why the WRT54GL won Customer's Choice 29 times. I am running 2 of these guys (plus an older WRT54GS) on Tomato firmware and it has been a great experience so far. Rock-solid, never had to reset the router.

Absolutely go for that linksys, I have the WRT54G v4, which is identical, it's been running strong for years. I have Tomato on it, which I can't recommend enough
