6800 GT High Load Temps?

Thread Starter
I traded my friend my x850 XTPE for his shiny new EVGA 6800 GT, and I was trying to find it's max core clock in ato tool v2.5B, and I got the core up to 410MHz stable, but the core temp was 87*C It wasn't artifacting at all though. I got a little scared so I droped the core to 402MHz. Is 87*C load without artifacting normal?

I'd say it's a little high, maybe try and get temps down a bit with aftermarket cooling. With normal use, you shouldn't really be able to damage a card as it will thermal throttle if it gets too hot. However, the cooler the temps, the longer the card will last.

I'm getting a Maze4 for it pretty soon, so that shouden't be a problem... And I don't want to void the warranty untill I do so(I don't wanna put AS5 on the core/memory untill I get the water block), just incase the card craps out on me.

It'll be fine in that case. It'll shut down or run really slowly if there's a problem, so unless this happens you're fine.

there is no straight answer to the driver issue, try the newest first though.
