PES5 and F.E.A.R stutter problems

hey there

i have just played PES5 and F.E.A.R on my PC. I have a geforce 7800 GTX, 1 GB DDR2 RAM and a P4 3.8 Ghz so my PC should run the games like a dream, however the gamse seem to stutter. Anyone else find this? Is it a common problem? Which settings should i pay close attention to??

regards Jonathan

How high are your temps getting while you are running the game? It might be thermal throttling or you could be using a lot of page file. I'm not sure how much RAM F.E.A.R. uses but depending on how high you have the details it could be overloading it.

What settings are you using in FEAR? I have everything maxed out at 1024x768 with 2x AA and 16xAF and if I take anything any higher then i get some stuttering.

PS There was a big difference between 1gig and 2gig of RAM. Stuttering between areas cleared up completely.

temps are around 42 when idle - not sure when running the game. All other games are awesome apart from these

It may be in fact that you're system is using you're page file which is causing you're stuttering. You may have to turn down the textures and some of the "eye candy" in your game to get it to run smooth.

The same thing happens in BF2 if you have a GB of
RAM or less and try to run the details turned all the way up.

Still with those specs you should be able to run high settings. Ive heard that changing the Name Fear.exe to we (EX Fear01.exe) Helps this problem out. Also while simple, are there many services running.. taking up RAM. Google Autorun and get rid of unkown programs in the background. RUN>Services.msc or msconfig works pretty well too. But You can mess ur stystem up if you dont know what your doing. Also maybe follow a RAM cleaner. Look into others but heres one.. http://www.snapfiles.com/get/fastdefrag.html
Ya having 2Gbs is a huge Difference, but I think that utilizing a full Gb stick should be fine to play FEAR on med High settings. So yah not max if thats what your asking.

To run FEAR and other new games(BF2,HL2,etc) with minimum stutter, you definetly need 1.5 Gigs and up of RAM.While i was playing FEAR and BF2 ,i saw on the task manager ,that the amount of RAM used are about 1.5-1.7 Gigs with all details set to max with 2-4 AA and 2-4AF.
Proof : http://www.tomshardware.com/2005/12/...u_really_need/
As you see on TH,with 2gigs of RAM ,its definetly minimizing the jumpy fps on BF2 and other games.
