Make me a WC setup

Thread Starter
Using any used parts you see in the for sale ads here, or anything online... build me a WC setup for AM3 CPU and a 5850 graphics card.

And also, a newb question. What do you do when you need to empty the system or remove a component? Like if you just rip a hose off a barb water will go all over your components.. someone explain plz.

I might just go with just WC'ing the CPU for now as that would be about 100$ or so cheaper, but still go with the 360 rad so I have room to upgrade.

Can anyone answer my question?

My reservoir has a fillport connection that is used to fill the system with liquid (go figure) but I also use this as a way to drain the system as well.

I just take off the screws that is holding the reservoir in place and turn it upside down with the fillport tube aiming into a container. A shake here and there before you know it your system will be drained.

Word of advice, never EVER use your pump as a way to drain your system as they are only meant to be run with liquid flowing into them. I did this once and burnt out a pump. Just take your time and be careful not to pull on the hoses too hard, a lil shake is fine.

Technically you could but it would be infinitely easier if you drained your system first. Not to mention you would limited in how far you can move the part due to tubing length.

Just don't be lazy, drain first then remove parts if you have too. It's better than screwing up expensive parts.

Yea I dont want to screw anything up, I just didnt know which was easier.

Where do most people mount their radiators? On top of their case somewhere?

All depends on space limitations of the case, whether the case was designed with wc in mind and the vision the builder has.

I see alot of people and myself included mount their rads on the inside ceiling of the case. Some mount on the top exterior, some mount behind the case where all the connections go. It's really up to you and finding a balance of what works and what you want.
