I want to play this game, the world and creatures look great. But I can't stand the combat at all. . I hate controlling other people.

i've been playing this game for a couple of days and i do not like it very much.
the story is cool, the characters are cool, and the attacks and things are cool.
but the rps side of it is exactly the reason why i dont like it.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I & II, and Mass Effect were all the same way. Even Baulder's Gate I & II were RTS/RPG mixes.

Though I can understand why not everyone would be interested in managing their characters (they did throw in Auto-Tactics to help alleviate some responsibility), but leaving it strictly to AI while you only control your PC would be...a mistake.

Wait, what? Since when does pausing the game and controlling 3 other characters mean RTS?
None of those previous bioware games were RTS/RPG at all, and neither is Dragon Age. It is pure RPG and that is pure RPG combat. Pausing and thinking about what you are going to do is not RTS at all.

That said, the combat is the weakest part of DAO.
