He should be able to run what you said but with 16xaf no problems, I find that cranking the Anistrophic Filtering from 2x to 16x is only like 3 FPS drop on my friend's 9800XT.

And for texture tear, try enabling vSync, it will kill your FPS though.

yep i tried that yesterday, and yes it capped my FPS at 70 which is my LCDs hertz. My bro is on a crt and it didnt cap his but my game didnt run as nice btu the tear was gone which was nice. i guess ill have to deal with that tear but i would love to run the game better, its not my max FPS thats a problem, i just put all settings on high and AA on 4 and AF on 2 on LCD res and did a FPS test, i got 80 FPS average but it droped to like 16 at some points which is the problem i cant stand, the drops...

If you want no texture tearing, that's called vsync. But unless your fps never in any situation goes below the reflesh rate, don't enable it. Why? Well... say you would be getting 200 fps, it will drop it to 60 if your refresh rate is 60 (nothing wrong with that). But problems start when your fps drops to say 55 because it will go all the way down to 30 to remain synched with the monitor. And any lower than 30 will = 15 and so on. Personally, my fps never goes below 110 so I leave vsync on but it may not be the best choice on a 9800pro

ya.. its too bad because my tear is pretty annoying but i just cant run vsync, maybe after i get my ram and overclock my system ill be able to but i doubt it. i will just have to wait for a new comp with dual 7800gts? lolol
