I don't think the 9V power brick will be enough for the CCFL inverter; but using a 12VDC brick will work just fine.

I'd strongly suggest using a 12VC supply as the CCFLs are very voltage sensitive and supplying the inverter with a mere 9VDC may result in the inverter not producing enough power for the CCFL lamp(s), which could cause the CCFL to be dim, partially lit, or not lit at all.

hmm ill see if i can find a 12v brick around the house. but i think itll be easier for me cause i have the 9v hooked up to a switch alrady and so when i turn on my fan my ccfl would also turn on. same goes for when i turn it off etc

hmm somin wierd just happened. found a 12v dc brick hooked up the cathodes etc and it didnt work... hooked up to my 9v dc and it worked perfectly

the 12VDC brick may have been dead or wired backwards.

I run bias lighting on my monitors and on the back of my LCD TV. It's best to use a proper 6500K source, and if you don't know already, the color of the bias takes away from the color on the actual panel.

Here's a quick picture of one of my monitors with Bias.
