Christmas cans! - Page 3

I'm still leaning towards AD700s, the positive reviews and the "it's not a lack of bass, it's just not boomy" is reassuring me to get it.

I'm still considering the JVCs or Shures, although I'm not sure they would be good for gaming. Besides, I like purple.
THANKS, GUILT1!

People dunno how to judge bass if it slapped them in the face:

It defiantely lacks bass quantity wise. It's nothing to do with boominess or anything, the AD700 is bass anemic. I bass EQ my AD700's for gaming.

i have owned several headsets/ phones. I use mine for gamming 75% and music 25%. I have had the stel series siberia and other gamming gimic crap. Then i finally realized what they were and picked up a cheaper pair of noise canceling heaphones with a clip on mic. It was a nice set up but they broke. SO i moved up the the JVC Ha-Rx 900's and they are the best headphones i have ever used period.<<i recommed them Arn't the 555's open? If so just on that basis i would say no. I hate hearing ambient noise when i play(i play cs, css competivly). The Rx-900's block out most everything plus they sound amazing...and there 50 bucks.

I wanted bass headphones a while ago after having a few pairs of JVC's (various types) I plumbed for the Sony MDR-V700DJ which are the best phones I've ever had. There's only one downside to these though, and that is that after hours of wearing they become a little uncomfotable as they are quite a tight fit, however this does ease off over time.

Just my 2p's worth.

"It's not a lack of bass, it's just not boomy" can only be used to describe something like my JVC HA-DX3 with the Little Dot MKII. The bass is there but resonance is dampened very well. The bass isn't done sloppily nor is the bass missing from the frequency response. When it comes to the open-backed headphones like the HD555, HD595 and the Audio Technica ATH-AD700, the bass is just genuinely missing. I really don't find pops and poofs adequate representations of bass.

Well, that confirms that. AD700s = fail for dubstep.

Choices are:
- JVC HA-RX900
- Shure SRH440
- Denon D1001 / Creative Aurvana Live!
- Audio Technica ATH-M50

Can someone compare these in a best to worst thing, as in Shure > Denon > etc.?

And where's a good, reliable place to find these under $100 USD?
THANKS, GUILT1!

The Shure is better just sound quality wise but for gaming I would still go with the JVC RX900 because it has such a wide sound stage for a closed phone and very strong bass.
