Hello all

This is my first time here.. (this place rocks)..
Ok here we go I just got a new Chaintech Fx5500 256MB graphic card for my dell 4600, it currently has a nvidia FX5200 128MB card in it... Im going to replace it, and was wondering if anyone has some pointers or tips for me..

I have a very good idea how to install the new card ... I was just looking for some pointers from the pros

Thx Guys

well you'll want to uninstall your old drivers. go to uninstall programs and uninstall anything you see there pertaining to your card.
then boot in safe mode and run drivercleaner pro.

then turn off your computer swap cards boot up and install new drivers. piece of cake!

Ok

Now This is where I get a little confused ..I understand that the drivers must be completely removed, I believe Nvidia also has a tool that cleans drivers, I saw it here on this site..I also Think im soposed to go into my device manager after, and removeing anthing there, that has to do with the old card ..

Now that being said is there a certin order to this like 1. remove drivers via add remove programs 2. remove anything in device manager 3. then use driver cleaner??

Or is that overkill

Thx

that should do it. give it a go and let us know if you encounter any problems.

you might want to run some benchmarks before and after just to see how much better your new card is... but that step is totally up to you!

Well i installed the new card tonight.. It went very well, useing driver cleaner..
I installed a set of drivers someone on these forums said was the best for my card.. it seemd to work well.. The resolution was a lot better I tried 3d mark but it seemed to run real slow ..

Now the one problem I am haveing, is it seems to hardlock the comp when playing WOW. I need to get some diffrent drivers!!! Any suggestions??...
