What does drive health really mean?

Thread Starter
I dl'd HDD Health and installed it - nice little program. It shows my temps for all my drives. For my WD 500 gb blue and Hitachi 2tb it shows them as having 100% excellent health while the Seagate 500 gb (which is an RMA drive that replaced a 400gb that died) as having 63% Normal health. The seagate is about 60% full - i am copying photos and other important files to it. Once done i will remove and put in a safe deposit box.

So my question is what does this health thing mean?

It could be a number of things but generally speaking its probably not good.
I'm not familiar with the program your using but HD Tune shows detailed SMART info so you might have a better idea of whats going on.

Going by smart data is a better way to determine drive health.

HD-Tune is in fact a very good program.
