Yes, emulation is always possible. It just takes a lot of effort and time wise to make one.
Try referring to this site (Ps2 Emulators)-
http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/ps2/

This site is an excellent resource for emulators.
For more information, try using google to find the Emulator's website.

This is not against the rules, as long as you are talking about the legal emulation of games you own.

Just to clarify where the boundary is: Talking about emulators themselves is fine, the emulation software itself is legal. But as soon as anyone starts talking about downloading ROMs or ripping games, the thread is going to be nuked.

Even if the person owns the game? That's the law, isn't it? If you own the game, a ROM is legal. If you don't own it, you have to delete it within 24 hours.

I like the way you put that.

I experimented with various PS2 emulators a few months back, and couldn't make any of them work. They are extemley pickey about what BIOS/plugins you use. And yes, you have to buy cables and rip your PS2's BIOS. (You have to own a PS2 for this to be legal.)

Not worth the effort in my opinion.

That must be one of the most widely believed urban legends in software. There is no 24 hour trial period for ROMs, it's not shareware after all. It is computer code protected by copyright law. And those copyrights are valuable intellectual property to the copyright owners.

IF you actually owned the real video game machine, and IF you extracted the ROM yourself, then a case could be made that that falls under the "fair use" portion of copyright law. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't really know how that would play out. But that does not mean it is legal for you to download the ROM, any more than it is legal for you use gnutella to download the MP3 of a song that you already own on CD.
