Freezing X4 965 BE was a challenge unlike the 1090T BE

booting up @5Ghz wasn't easy, it wasn't all about voltage on this one
I have to tweak the CPU VDDA (CPU phase look loop)
I know I can do more but I'm running out of patience and weather is really hot
Dice wasn't helping and i was getting 15C @ on CPU in bios
my mobo is at 40C NB 40C

That voltage seems a bit low for 5ghz. If it didn't scale with voltage, then I guessing you had a bad mount. I assume you used acetone or some kind of liquid for the DICE? Have you looked at how the TIM spreads with the base? Post some more pics thumb.gif

it was mounted fine..tim was little
i used acetone
weather was really hot
at stock settings, i was getting -20C in bios and at 4.8Ghz i was getting -15C
i tried 1.68v CPU V to get to at least 5.2ghz but no luck and even at 1.4V CPU/NB still no luck
i was guessing mobo and NB wasent cold enough or CPU wasent cold enough
or need more tweaking the IMC .

Did you have a probe on the pot base? BIOS temps aren't too accurate, the temp diodes only report temps so far when they get frozen. It could be entirely possible that the cpu isn't that good too. As long as NB, HT frequencies are near stock, you shouldn't have to increase anything but vcore.

What are your BIOS settings?

I'd guess CPU not cold enough, but you're a little vague on the details so it could be a lot of things. Some more pics of the pot and mounting would be good to share. A bad mount can really change things.

sorry man... I dont have pics on the mounting and I dont have a probe frown.gif
NB/ HT are near stock ram is at below stock speed with 1.65V and NB is at 1.3v
it might be the CPU..though I've seen alot of dice run on 1090T and 965BE and they can pull 5.3Ghz up to 5.6ghz and they change alot of stuff in the bios
oh! well I guess I need more practice ..and understanding frown.gif

You know you don't have to boot at your max clock right? The way people get like 5.2 and up is via windows overclocking. Utilities like AMDOD, k10stat, rog connect are a good place to start. If you can boot 5ghz you can probably validate and bench higher smile.gif

Good to see more people getting into subzero, don't be afraid to ask any questions.

Yup i boot at 4.80Ghz then use AMDOD i can validate at 5ghz but cant cant on 5.1ghz even i put 1.68v at CPU Vcore
