With this method, I can bench on and off for weeks without having to break things down.

I also still get a little Tom Sawyerish joy from intentionally squirting stuff into the socket. It seems so taboo.......

true! However, I don't bench that often.

Killa, Killa, Killa.....you're looking at it all wrong. You should be having a hard time justifying not putting your classy under DICE. That's what it's made for and, frankly, it's kind of mad at you for denying its heritage.

Edit: nvm what I just wrote. Overclocking is dangerous to your hardware. You shouldn't do it. And if you do, don't blame me if it breaks. I warned you.
HAHAHA good point, how much do i insulate for just a few hours of benching. do i need to grease the socket if i let it sit overnight off with the fan blowing on it.

Just my experience with phase is that greasing the socket is a pretty good idea. Once everything is sealed up there is moisture that can get trapped in the socket area kind of like a little air pocket. Not alot of moisture but all it takes in one well placed bead of water and your shutdown.

Ofcourse you could get away with it for how many runs I dont know.

Don't need to grease the socket for a single bench session. Frozen condensation does no harm. Just bench, then break down when you're done and dry it out.

I grease it because I do multiple freeze-->thaw---->freeze---->thaw sessions. With phase you have it frozen for extended period of time.

I've been playing Dr. Frankenstein on some 7600GT's the last few days to get some more hardware points on the bot.

Next frozen sessions may be next weekend since I'll have time to get more LN2 on Friday. I've got a little bit of 1366 benching with those cards to do that may or may not require subambient temps.

My i5 670 arrives Monday. Depending on how long I spend getting it dialed in on water (and ss phase if my unit from Cerberus arrives soon), I may be freezing that. It's gonna require some -160 temps Crossing my fingers on some sub 7 second pi runs with that.........
