I would really like to get a 6ghz benchable setup...and Im soooo close FSB-wise.. just need some RAM that can keep up to test further.
I think you should get a phenomenal phenom

I have been looking at AM3 setups... pretty good price wise. I need to get my LN supplier and costs figured out before phenom though ..but I am intrigued by benching with 'full pot' I need to get over my 'dislike' of IMC's too...I have this magical thing, where I seem to make them commit suicide under bench testing.. besides, what would I do with this little NB pot then..
Just put it on the nb anyway for shigles? lol probably helps ram stability or something don't worry about the imc's these things are made of cast iron unlike their weak ass cousins over at intel

Well what would you recommend... GD70/965 as a good all around setup..?
NOOOOOOOO that board is the devil. Spec is selling a GB fxta ud5 atm very cheap. That's your best bet He used it for 1 forum wars run and now its up for sale lol. Go for a 955 aswell Ive had much more luck with them. D9 gtr's if you can get em.
http://www.overclock.net/main-compon...0fxta-ud5.html

GD70 is useless at everything other than cpu-z and 3dmark 03 :/ very poor clock for clock performance and artificial clocks out the bunghole.

..noted.. thanks for input, I'll be pricing this against an i3 build very soon...sold a mobo and SPP block in less than 10min today ..now to see if I can get some buyers for the other goodies.

I can join the club!
Tried out the new pot with some dice last night, got to 240 x 21 on the i7 920 so I got to see 5.04Ghz for the first time, didn't get any benching in except a superpi 1m run for 8.047, but it was frozen. Still waiting for the thermometer to arrive.
Everything was pretty buggy & I found out not to use quite as much eraser around the socket. When I took it apart I found a bit of eraser pushed right into the socket pins, took me a while but got it cleaned up & straightened out, hardware still all works.
5.04Ghz validation: http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1076270

the setup

frozen tube & bubble action inside

Definitely, it was my first working DICE experience & I was just figuring out to use more ice & less acetone.
Next time should be better, hopefully I can get through POST with more than 2 cores enabled.
