...yeah, better than more neck ties or wooly sweaters ...the women around here overheard me say at a dinner party that Haswell 1150 was the only recent / current CPU gen I didn't have; they must have missed the part about why (> Max V Ex Z77, 3770k @ 5.3 w-c; IMC 2933+)

...also, they buy tech things on 'looks', thus the Max Vii Formula (could have been worse, much worse)...mind you, they probably would have gone for a Gigabyte SOC Force etc if the store would have had some of those Gigabyte mobo boxes in the display > they just painted our kitchen in exactly the same orange Giga uses for those boards tongue.gif

cant find it anywhere on hwbot, does anyone know the rules for chillers? does using a chiller still keep me in the air/WC catergory, even if its a sub zero chiller?

...the irony is, this 4790k was a 'blind' (= I didn't pick it) Christmas present I got (along w/ mobo and a G3258 still in sealed box); > ...per earlier post, I'm working through recycling various mobos / CPUs from an office environment anyhow and really didn't need any more mobos / CPUs > but I take it biggrin.gif

...starting w/ phase and DICE this weekend, then LN2 within two weeks I hope (waiting for some adapter parts for the really serious runs)

re. TIM alternatives, 'smooth' peanut butter also works (so they say) lachen.gif

Looks like you got really lucky with your Christmas present.

Tested virgin es last night on tt 3.0. Looks like a good ln2 canditate smile.gif

Technically speaking, anytime you go sub-zero it's considered "Extreme" regardless of the cooling method used.

Smart thing to do would be if in doubt, just ask them what they'd have to say about it before you go for it and wind up getting slapped with an infraction or worse afterwards.

I had some radical ideas but i think mass does more than surface area
Like using bbs basically to fill the bottom and have the ln2 disperse through the open cornersand gaps.
Also had an idea that was sorta remniscent of the thermalright heatsink on the dfi x48 board. But i think its less about the metal and getting the ln2 as close to gpu as possible
I was looking at pots for hours trying to think up a design and its closest to the raptor3 but its just more square

Anyways got my pressure gauge, and they will do 160$ for 180l and fill my 50l for the same price per liter
No delivery though, gonna have to use a tow truck to move it around

ive seen some use the BB method for DICE, probably other crazy methods out there but so far, the tek 9 model is working great for me, no reason to change lol.

Yeah i am just kicking some ideas around for a complex fat/small pot like the phantom

A slim pot would be easy to make. Just drill 3 holes like the tek9s slims i sold hotrod
I am trying to do a fairly light pot i guess. I dunno i need a good gpu pot. But dont want to spend a fewhundred .

I just think i could get creative with the pattern with legos

I do have access to a mill and drill press through a friend whixh would just make quixk work out of a slim pot
But wheres the fun in that

The tech9 fat is nice but i want something closer to de8auser's with the flow chamber at the bottom

Actually as far as I have read, the SOC Force is one of the best Z97 overclocking boards, second only to Z97 OCF maybe.
The Max Vii Formula is also a good choice & looks much more sexier in your pics after taking of the so called "ARMOR".

And also, that 3770K does sound drool worthy.tongue.gif

Sweet.
It will probably scale considering its a 4770K, not a 4790K & not discounting the ES part.

Good luck man.thumb.gif
