Depending on bench, yes it does for z97 and x99. It also helps or hinder max oc. The chip does 5.2/48 on water, so i'm expecting good things. thumb.gif

You're absolutely right.

When testing the max CPU clocks though I normally go for CPU core first, then when I've found max core I start working on max uncore. Generally get most out of the CPU that way but there are very few exceptions where lower CPU speed a little has netted me much more uncore and therefor more performance overall (happened with 1 pentium cpu only).

...ok guys...after doing a bit more CPU sub-0 pot cooling and getting the hang of it (more or less...there was that leak through the temp sensor tab), I'm getting my first GPU pot next week (just cleared customs per tracking from last week's order). In order to prep the GPU PCB, I'm planning to go only with

a.) Vaseline / Dialectic Grease
b.) some Neoprene on top, i.e. VRAM / area immediately around CPU die
c.) lot's of blue shop towel coverage

...so no LET, no Art Eraser, just lots and lots of layers of thick grease...am I asking for trouble ?

...very cool ! thumb.gif ...how much LN2 does a 980 go through in, say, 7 typical benches / 2 hrs (> incl. prep and crash recovery time) ? I have a 35L Dewar which is about as big as I can go in a condo highrise

Thanks Joa smile.gif

For me it was 30l easy to get familiar with the card, definitely need twice as much for full runs when cpu put on cold.

Thanks DJ thumb.gif

...tx smile.gif ...so far, I've only LN2'd CPUs, not GPUs .....when I do a GPU on LN2, I likely start out w/ the 5960X on DICE...have played w/ several retail and also ES 5960X; they all seem to 'cb' between -85c and -120c
