Yes if you set to to 802.11a then the card is set to the a band. If your router is on a different band then they cannot communicate. Turn it off if your router is on a different band and make sure they are on the same one.
However you card may just have that as additional support so it may now being running to search for networks on the default band AND the a band. If thats the case then thats not causing the problem
See thats the thing I dont know which one it would be doing and I already said screw it and just took my moms computer out and put mine in here directly connected to the DSL router

Oh in the linksys router settings when you put it on PPPoE, and add a username and password, well when you havent added anything why does it make the password field a long set of dots, and then when I delete those and type in the login stuff to SBCs network, it makes that password long again?
