Check out your modem status page and reference the power levels and such. Also, a voltmeter on your power strip will tell a good story. Lots of troubleshooting you can do before you even think about calling Comcast.

Or you can just threaten to go with AT&T unless they send a tech out for free. There's no reason in the world for you to go through more than 1 or 2 modems during the product's life.

Actually, I found the real culprit. It was my router [oddly enough], and a call to Linksys get things sorted. They had me enable MTU and set a packet limit, and now things seem to be good again.
