Anyone who wants to record guitar!

So i've been dying, so have my bandmates, to record riffs and any little ideas i come up with. But i've no way of doing it for the longest time, and i've always thought the best way to record was to get a mic in front of my amp and run a line in to my soundcard.

Pfftt

I , on a whime, ordered a Line6 guitarport. It was around 200$ for a the hardware and some recording software. VERY GOOD INVESTMENT. It comes with tons of amp sounds + effects, and lots of pre made sounds. The recording software is tricky at first, but once you get used to it its easy as cake.

This isn't meant to be mastered sounding/styled recordings. This is for those 1am holly crap i've got a good idea moments, plus others. It can be used with other recording software, so you could use this as a guitar recorder for tracks if you tune it right.

All in all , best x-mas present. Install is painless, use is easy. Id give it a B+ at the least. Ive been playing for only about 5 yrs.

As a band we jam lots of tool, some rage, and own songs. And this thing goes good with my style.

good work mate!!!!! our band uses pro tools and some sort of converter and a mixer before we go into the computer but at the end it sounds very clear and only the hiss from ya amp before you start to play, our garage recordings sound better than the 2 cds we did aboout 10 years ago in a professional studio!!! I love technology

I had read about that before, sounded pretty cool. I currently run my guitar through my effects and then into my pc. I don't have the proper connections or enough cables I think to use my amp with my pc if that is possible. I've been playing guitar for quite some time, but I'm not sure exactly on the whole recording process. I use guitar tracks pro.

I'm getting a nice keyboard for x-mas that will allow me to use midi in and midi out.
