this may sound a little dumb. - Page 2

If your monitor will take the DVI input, then use it. It suppsoedly gives better picture quality on crt's and definately makes a difference on lcd's.

IIRC, the HDTV resolution is 1920x1080 and 1280x720...

No, you haven't been running HDTV on your monitor, most (if not all) monitors don't have hdtv capability (they don't need it really), with the dvi connection, that's all today's monitors (most noteably lcd's) need.

Ohh yeah I have hs that card, it's mighty weak and if you can oc t to get every last ounce of power out of it. I really like 1152 x 864 on a 17 incher, but if it can't handle it use 1024x768.

My 16 inch monitor is running at: 1280/1024. Also it didnt seem like anybody mensioned this, if you run games at higher resolution the game will slow down if the card cant handle it.

I'd say for older games (like HALO etc, not old old games) 1028x748. 800x600 might work better if you machine doesnt like you . Thats what i used when i used to have a Geforce 4 MX anyway :/. Oh wait, that one didnt run HALO.... There were GeForce 3 cards that worked better than it

That, was an epiphany.

Yeah it takes a lot out of older machines to process the higher resolutions.
