No 5870's available, what's wrong with a 5770?

Newegg had an ETA of today (11/23) for availability on the Sapphire Radeon 5870, but unfortunately, today came and went and no 5870, and no place right now has this card available for under $409.

I am now thinking of just picking up a 5770. It's a huge upgrade from my GTX 8800. How much of a performance difference is there between the 5770 and the 5870?

The 5870 is pretty much twice as fast as a 5770.

2x 5770 is equal or better than a 5870

a 5770 is approximately 1.4x better than a 8800.

The 5870 is more than 2x faster than 5770.

Buy 2 5770's, maybe 160-170 each. That's my opinion.

Two 5770's will beat a single 5870.

I'm personally wanting a 5850, which like the 5870 is nowhere to be found. I really don't understand how there could be such an extreme shortage of all these cards. Is every PC gamer out there upgrading right now or what?

That's all I am looking for. A 40% increase of performance is pretty darn good. And who the heck knows when the 5870 will even be available

Yes, if you're running low res with no AA.

High res, high AA, newer title = 5870

512mb is just not enough framebuffer for AA at high res on some titles, and if you buy 5770 CF, you're severely limiting your eye-candy capabilities.

Most folks that have that much money to spring on cards nowadays are running 1920x
