If I got a PCI-E motherboard, what motherboard/video card could I get that would be the same performance for the same price?

The 6800GS or the X800GTO2 if youre willing to flash a new BIOS onto it.
Very nice!

This may sound like a REALLY stupid question but..

Are those connectors used for the DVI input, so you can connect your VGA monitor?

I think I'm convinced to go ahead and get the PCI-E mobo.

Actually you have it backwards those connectors are for the DVI outputs..but yeah they allow you to connect a 15pin VGA to it.

If you plan to get a PCI-e mobo get either an ASUS or DFI lanparty board. For a video card I recomend a X800 GTO2 with a small (and easy and with all the people around here), well guided operation. Once unlocked you get a nice X850 XT PE.
Good enough

The GTO2 is $219 on newegg. I can get the 7800GT for $309. Taking the money out of the equation, would the GTO2 still be the better buy, or the 7800?
The 7800GT would be the more powerful card but the X800GTO2 has the better value. Or if you like ATI better theres the X1800XL for a little more.
