AMD -> Intel upgrade

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
My current system is an aging beast, though the graphics card still holds up nicely, and I'm sick and tired of laptop gaming so I decided to upgrade to a new Lynnfield system. Here's what I got:

i5 750
Gigabyte p55-ud6
G. Skill Trident 2x2gb PC12800
Sapphire HD 5850
Corsair HX 850W
Coolermaster ATCS 840
Noctua NH-U12P SE
Kingston SSDNow M series 80gb
Old Maxtor 250gb HD

I only have the case so far, the rest of the stuff is on its way. I probably won't get the 5850 for a long while though. With that in mind, do you think I can put my x1800xt in the PCIE 2.0 slot and use it temporarily until the card arrives?

I'm planning to drop in anther 80gb ssd for a RAID 0 setup down the line along with a second HD5850.

I'll post pics as stuff comes in.

Looks very good. The only thing I would do is buy a motherboard with NF200. If you're already spending that much money, why not try out this motherboard instead of the ud6?

yeah, dont' have any high expectations from it, I just need something that'll work while I install the OS/software and overclock.

The Classified is way out of my budget (more than $100 more in canada) and since I'm still a student I need all the pennies I can get. Plus Crossfiring 5850s won't fill up all 8 lanes anyways.
