Windows Dual Core Question

Thread Starter
All processes are set to run on both cores but what happens when the program isnt multi-threaded? Does windows assign it to the core with the lowest usage or is it random? Another thing when I run CSS i get about 50% usage on both cores so is CSS multi-threaded?

As far as I know, it splits the load up equally between the two cores.

Ya but if the game isnt multi-threaded is it still split? I noticed both CPUs have about the same load when I play BF2 also? Are these games multi-threaded or does Windows actually split the load on non multi-threaded apps?

I do beleive that bf2 is one the very few games that dual core threaded, I think that cod2 is also but u personally have to put it on.

Thats pretty awsome! The BF2 and the steam engine (CSS and HL2 and mods) uses both cores also! I have 4.4ghz of processing power Now if I could only get some good cooling I might be able to feed this beast enough voltage to get a decent overclock

Actualy, you dont. It says 50% because windows thinks your only useing 50% of your CPU power (1 core). It does that with HT too. If I am folding it will say "50% CPU useage", because windows thinks I have 2 cores and F@H isnt multi-threaded.

???? Windows knows I have 2 processors so it should be showing the right CPU usage. When I run prime95 it shows 100% on 1 core and 0% on the other

I think its just with HT that Windows gets confused

Oh, well, if Prime95 shows 100% on one core and 0% on the other, then windows must recognize dual core diferantly then HT. Sorry, I thought it did them the same.
