HL2 - Available memory less than 128MB error

Hey, i've just bought HL2 but can't run it. When i launch it, screen goes black for a second then an error message appears saying "Engine Error: Available Memory less than 128MB!!!"

***? I got 4GB of RAM. What's going on?

Try to run it in xp compatibility mode and see what happens

In steam, right click HL2, go properties, launch options and add "-32bit" (without quotes). It's probably detecting that you've got a 64 bit OS and running the horribly buggy version of the Source engine. This will force it to run the regular version.
