Dual core CPU showing as Single??

Thread Starter
Im curious why CPUZ was only showing 1 CPU in it's list, when I have a dual core chip.

I have an X2 3800+ but it's not showing up in either bios, Windows, or CPUZ that I have 2 CPUs. Am I doing something wrong? Is something not turned on in bios? Or perhaps windows and CPUZ are just stupid?

The computer is pretty fast but I feel like I'm a noob asking this question. Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks

CPUZ often has bugs, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Click Start>Control Pannel>System and see what the information there says. If it says you have a x2 3800+ then you should be fine.

Good luck

Get the latest version of CPU-Z.

Are you sure you have a dual core processor? Because there is also a single core 3800+ chip...

Yes, CPU-z is buggy if you don't have the latest version.

One of the guys in the Intel section had this problem with his dual-core, and it turned out that the mobo supported the CPU; however, it did not utilize both cores, leaving one dormant. Hope this didn't happen to you. Update to the latest CPU-z and let us know if it's resolved.

DFI DAFG I have to admit I am not up on that board . I think it is a budget board ?

Any way if it does support the X2 series chips you will need a bios flash for it most likely .

Here was the correct answer. Not minuites after I posted this, I found out that my Motherboard, although brand new (just came out when I bought it), the BIOS was released in April 05, which means it didnt come with X2 support like the specs SAID.

I'm all fixed now.
