$500 MW2 comp challenge

Thread Starter
I need a computeter(fine, a computer) for COD4.2, and possibly BattlefieldBC2.

Parts not needed:
Case
Keyboard
Mouse
Monitor

I will be purchasing a steelseries g11, logitech g500, and samsung 2233RZ 120hz monitor later.

For now I just need OCs help!

I can get an i7 from a microcenter for $200ish!

Amazon has a HAF22 @ $60

Will I be able to fit 2x 5770 and a sound card? Any help here fellas/ladies?

My ordered just canceled for the combo deal(card company thought it was fraud, so they canceled)
Now I have to re-order the combo:
OCZ ModXStream 700w PSU
XFX 5770

Both for $262 with tax, that's -$25 on the $180 xfx for buying this combo. I also get a $35 MIR, so that makes the total $227.

I was planning on buying 4gb g.skill ripjaws, but not sure which PC-XXXXX to get.

i7 = $200 at microcenter, while I am there.. I might pick up megahalems. I will want 2x 120x38mm fans, but not sure how to even put them together(rookie).

I was planning on getting a Foxconn Bloodrage GTI board, but they are sold out. I saw a cheaper Foxconn Kitana Inferno GTI, what is the difference besides the kitana being $40 cheaper?

What mobo do you guys recommend? I will try to learn how to OC, and I want to CF my 5770s some day.. maybe even eye-finity with 3x 120hz monitors. (I doubt it, but the possibly is there)

There is absolutely no way you can do an i7 build with that budget. Even with the $200 chip, the cheapest board is just shy of $200. That leaves you with $100 for video card, PSU, memory, DVD burner, hard drive, and heatsink, lol.

this

I'd be looking at the AMD side, i'd be reccomending one of their tri-core CPU's with a 4770 but the rest is up to you

Even that might be a tad over budget. I think a good dual core should do just fine.

Have you thought about the i5 750?

$150, can get 4GB DDR3 RAM for $70 on sale, and a good board for $130 or so. (Be careful picking boards - need to make sure it's not a bad socket - Gigabyte P55 UD3 and up are good)

That's ~$350 there. $150 left for HDD, PSU, and GPU. Very tight. Wait for BF sales on the RAM/Mobo and it might fit - smaller HDD, smaller (but decent) PSU, and a midrange card will do it.

Those must have dropped in price recently, my bad. There is still absolutely no way the OP can put together an i7 system with good dedicated video for that price though, this doesn't change anything.

Put something together for you OP, $520.93 w/ MIR. You get a great DX11 card, awesome AM3 dual core, DDR3, extremely good PSU, and a super fast HD.
