In fact, you would need a 5870 or something to keep your framerate near 120 for all modern games, which is totally out of your budget (and totally unnecessary). A 5770 should be perfect for you at that res, and fits nicely within budget.

As for purchasing parts now, I would do it soon if I were you (like, today) because of all the awesome deals newegg has going on. I would particularly focus on the PSU, hard drive, and RAM because those seem to have the most reduced prices atm. That link you posted to the 700w OCZ looks awesome btw, jump on that deal asap.

I live in hollywood, if you need any help putting it together or anything lemme know man!

Cool beans. I would recommend the ATI 5770. Very low power consumption, crossfires amazingly well, and should play games at your res excellently. Keep in mind that the motherboard you (I) posted doesn't do crossfire. You are going to have to shell out a few more bucks for a mobo with 2 PCI-E x16 lanes.

Also, I would definitely get the OCZ PSU over the one you have. The PSU is the most important part of your system and you really don't want to skimp on it (did that before, fried my whole mobo).

Do you know exactly which make/model your hard drive is? That will most likely be the slowest part of your system.

I was gonna stay away from this thread, but I keep seeing it pop up. Figured I might aswell put some effort into helping OP.

It's very slightly out of budget(I can re-tweak it for lower), but here's my go @ it:
ODD
HDD(missed an EPIC deal on a 640GB WD black on BF, $49.99 shipped )
mobo
GPU
PSU Alternate PSU(same price after MIR)
RAM
CPU
HSF

total: ~$539 shipped

Put some effort into unlocking and/or OCing that CPU and it'll be one hellova rig for around 500 bucks. I can downgrade the mobo and GPU for a higher-class CPU if you find simple bios tweaking scary.

edit:
That mobo won't work w/ that CPU. Disregard that particular combo. mobo is AM3 CPU is AM2+.

I spent $263 (including tax, but not including the $35MIR I have to claim to lower the price I just posted) for a :

XFX 5770
OCZ ModXStream 700w PSU

I have $450 left for a CPU/MOBO/Memory

Yes, I got a $250ish boost.
