Celeron D 2666 ???

post #1 of 6
Thread Starter
Hi everybody,
I have a Celeron d 2.66 with ASUS P4P800-MX Motherboard for the ram 512 mo PC3200 DDR. I overclock it to 2869.7 mhz
FPS= 143.5
RAM= 179.4 mhz
FPS:RAM= 4:5
AGP= 72 mhz
PCI= 36mhz

AND when I put the FPS= 145 and the RAM= 181.96 and try to play game it freeze.
PLEASE if someone can help me PLEASE
And if someone know how to unlock the multiplier. THANX

Welcome to the forums. Please take a few minutes to fill out your system specs by going to the User CP linked near the top left corner of every page and then going to Edit System Specs along the left side of the page. Knowing all of your gear will help us help you better.

Unfortunatly, you're not very likely to have any luck unlocking the multiplier on that processor (or the vast majority of Intels for that matter). If your BIOS has an option to lock the AGP and PCI frequency, you would be well advised to do so at 66.6 and 33.3 MHz (or as close as possible), respectively. Your RAM is not likely the problem as it's stock speed is 200 MHz (you're currently underclocking it...see if you can run a larger divider). You may need to up your vcore (CPU voltage) a notch or two to get it to run stable.

Assuming your MOBO is kind of like my p4s800-mx, You should have a lot of options! *The essentials!, Pci and agp lock, fsb and multiplier selection.* What voltage are you currently running it? I was able to overclock my 2.4 Celeron to around 2.6-ish with a vcore around 1.5 up from 1.4. Check your vcore, And also download a program like speedfan and tell us of any vcore fluctuations *changes* During cpu intensive, Or any kind of activity which requires power from your system. It could be a faulty PSU or not enough voltage. Check your temps, if your idle is around 30's then up the vcore a slight bit and try gaming again. Happy o/cing!

FYI,

FPS = Frames Per Second or First-Person Shooter
FSB = Front Side Bus (or memory to cpu frequency)

Also, you shouldn't need to run a divider on 3200 RAM as it will go to 200MHz or beyond by stock specifications.

Yes but it is safer to do so atleast until you are sure it's not your RAM that is causing instabilities.

I'm thinking the AGP frequency is way out of spec (see if you can lock it down in BIOS, as well as the PCI freq), and that, combined with the overclock, is causing the freezing. IMO, the RAM is not a problem. My $.02
