Ugh... strange issues with a BIOS update.

Thread Starter
Before today, aparently my bios didn't see the dual core on my CPU. So today when I found this out, I updated the BIOS.

Unfortunately with the updates came some strange issue.... Now that I have the Dual Core, I cannot overclock much at all. Before I was running 2.5-2.64Ghz stable with minor heat issues (~54C full load). Now I cannot clock past 2.3Ghz and i cannot figure out why. Everytime I move the voltage to 1.7 and clock the Mhz to 250, set the HT to 4x, and drop my RAM down to 133Mhz (DDR266) like I always did before the computer either crashes before Windows starts, or it freezes up and will not POST. So I have to reset the BIOS.

I have a DFI-DAGF mobo, and a 3800+ X2, does anyone have suggestions? None of this happened before. I'd like to stay at 2.5Ghz

I would believe it was OCing better because it was operating only one core... why it's OCing so poorly is unclear.
You may want to try a lower vcore.

thats outrageous vcore like duke said, I can boot at 2.87 or higher with that much...
follow some of the overclocking guides here, but I wouldn't think that you need more than 1.5 vcore for 250 x 10... I only use 1.475 for 260 x 10 and my proc has twice as much cache
