AMD X2 Drivers

Thread Starter
I have heard that the "AMD X2 drivers" fix performance issues. The only drivers I could find were these
http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/..._13118,00.html
The ones called "AMD Athlonâ„¢ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor Driver for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 Version (exe) 1.2.2.2"

But it says it allows windows to adjust CPU speed, voltage, and power combination

Sounds like a bad thing to me ..... especially if your trying to overclock

Isnt that why we dissable the cool-n-quiet feature
Does anyone have this and does it help at all im games or anything?

Why would you get a CPU driver? That makes no sense. I would forget about that lol.

Some people say it fixes performance issues in games with dual core processor but I havent had any problems that is CPU related yet .... I dont think ... im having a problem where I just loose connection to BF2 servers even when I have 40 ping. After like 5-10 min I just get disconected saying I have lost connection ?????

That doesnt sound like a CPU problem. It sounds to me like the "driver" you are talking about is a program that helps windows better use the dual-core chip.

Happens to me sometimes, too. It's not a dual-core issue, just a bad server.

If it happens on every server, go into your router and manualy open all the ports BF2 needs.

And by the way, CPU drivers do nothing but allow Windows to get some more advanced info. (In my experiance.)

instal the amd drivers... do that then read here:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=896256

make sure to make the registry changes as listed on the site.

I attached the hotfix so you don't have to wait for a response from ms.

Yeah thats an issue with dual cores. You can fix it by minimizing out of BF2 and holding Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Then go to processes and find BF2.exe, right click it and set affinity-CPU 0.

Theres a support thread on amd forums somewhere that has other solutions if this doesnt work.

That's right, it regognizes dual-cores as a dual-CPU system... I gotta come out of the real world and get back on the computer, I'm missing things.
