Volt-modding eVGA Geforce 7800GT.. - Page 3

Volt mod it man..
Thats the only restriction for the 7xxx series is the lack of voltage.

I plan on doing it myself once I volt mod my mobo.
And get better at soldering.

you may want to get in touch with evga support because some of the 7800gt's came out with bad bios and need to be flashed with a new set. that may be your problem.

Someone told me that my card needs to be volt-modded to overclock. Is this true?

If it is.. is this an easy process? Is it risky? Should i do this

Okay... I have done Voltage modding on my 7800gt... and stupid me I tweaked it too much and burn the card..but thanks to BFG I they gave me another one. But anyways your 3d core and memory is holding you back and heat is not an issue. if you ever need help just let me know...

you can edit the bios to mod the voltage, using software like NiBiTor v2.6, which found in here:http://www.mvktech.net/component/opt...cat,92/page,2/

after editing bios and i finally got up to 526/1228, it is my max. (fan speed @ 86%) hitting 69C when it runs ATI tool
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1698361

on 1.4v, 495/1197 is the max. and scored 7840 on 3D mark 05.

i think the silencer is holding me back (it just performs little bit better than stock HS and exhaust the hot air to the back of the case, if you got a good airflow case, then it is not needed), Zalman would be better choice if you like to push the card further. of coz water cooling is a different world.

Sorry thats not gonna get you anywhere, 7800GT 3d core are already set at 1.4v, you really need to do a real volt mod.... Once again your memory is set too low!

setting it to 1.5v is what you want and the memory isnt too low most stock 7800gts only get around 1150. So mod the bios for 1.5v and make sure the delta is at 0 and he shhould be good

There's also a pencil mod you can do to get that extra .1 volt on the memory. It easier and safe as well. I'll see if I can find it

EDIT:
Here she blows!
http://www.vr-zone.com.sg/?i=2656&s=1

I still havn't done it yet because my temps scare me. At my most highest stable overclock (475/1205) my load is 61-62ish, and I just don't like that with my Zalman
