Sapphire 5970 fan rattle - Page 3

zbillings, I see your point. but for how much those cards cost I'd be upset if mine had anything wrong. you should not have to INCREASE to fan speed so high that it's louder than the clicking. I'd get another, but chances are it might have it also. so I wish you luck.

I still want a 5870 tho

yep, that's the sound it makes. I say normal. Not hitting anything. Just a loud ass fan. It's as loud at 40% as my 8800gts g92 at 100% and i bet it moves as much air at that low speed.

yea, ^^^ this, my 4890's fan at 50% is kinda loud when iam on my desktop, but when iam gaming i dont hear it, my point is that fans on dual slots are loud, this card will be no different.

I understand that and i havent got mine yet

Sounds like mine when at low RPM, goes away once it speeds up. Kind of reminds me my Scythe Ultra Kaze 2000 RPM when undervolted.

This is probably the way they are designed, they make a little noise when running at lower RPM.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I know I wont worry about it too much longer as its going to be watercooled soon.

I had an identical problem with my 5970. Is there a fix for this? Your video displays an identical rattling round to my own. Mine is also a Sapphire brand by the way.

This is common on ALL 5970s regardless of manufacturer. If you mess around with it you might be able to secure the fan better. Just take it apart and put it back together

About the opened boxxes, sometimes retailers will check the box to make sure the product is i nfact there and that it isnt damaged from being shipped to them.

I don't think I've ever gotten an empty box.

My 4870x2 NEVER made that type of rattle. Why should this 5970 do so? It sounds absolutely terrible!
