Far Cry question - Page 4

1 Gig of ram would be good, patches for the game are good. I had the same black floor before I patched my game to the latest version. Get them here: http://www.ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=691

Edit: Oh btw. You have to download all of the patches and install them in order.

You need 1gb to run farcry really well. Its a game that I KNOW uses a lot of ram. I have a gig in my rig and when I check my memory status (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and go to peak commit charge, its always at about 933mb. If you only have 512, that will probably boost performance a bit but even on my rig FPS drop with nightvision and cry vision. Frankly, im not sure, but I think its because the game does not occlude objects when zooming in. By this I mean that it still draws everything that it normally draws when not zoomed in, but draws to more detail the stuff your zoomed in on. Double whammy. Anyhow, its just my $.02 but I think ram would be your best bet. PSU? Bleh, maybe, but ram is the bigger issue

Thanks Killnine,

I know windows always been a hog on memory, and the game (farcry) does honestly play darn well at high setting, just when I get more detail into the game the nightvision use can be laggy. I really dont use it much,, but sometime when I am in the forest/jungle in the dark its kind hard to seek them mofo's shooting at me. At the beginning of the game where I retreive my 1st set of nightvisions they worked out really well no lagg, but as soon as I get more deeper into the game it gets laggy.

I do plan on some ram anyways.

But which ram do you perfer from the upper link I posted. Well here is that link again:

Thanks again everyone.
