Asus or Evga?

Thread Starter
Which one would be the better fit for my computer? I want the best performance for a low price and able to run the top of the line games to this date. I will be upgrading my power supply to 500watt soon.. and will be getting 1 gig of ram.
I know the 6600gt is a great buy, but I just found the asus 6600 and didnt know if it would be better to have 256mb instead of faster speeds? Would it really affect my computer if I dont have the memory to support the speeds?
<<<Also does the memory really affect the speeds? or is it something completely different from the speeds?>>>>

I can't give you a rock solid recommendation, but I do know that apparently eVGA has great customer support... if that means anything to you.

eVGA does have great CS, and the step-up program, in case you do not like the performance ofthe 6600GT to can pay the difference for a better card. i might do that with my 7800GT and get a GTX since I didnt pay for the 7800GT, so a GTX will only cost me a little rather than a lot.

Memory will affect speeds but if all of it it utilized so your best bet is to get either 1.5GB or 2GB of system memory, and the GPU Memory will affect it as well, 256MB will allow you to max out settings or allow you to achieve greater FPS for a longer period of time (2-3 years) than a 128MB as games are getting more graphic intense

My friends 128 9800PRO can't show as good of resolutions as my 256 9800PRO, he plays at 1024x768 and mostly Medium settings, I can play at 1280x960 with a few high settings and get the same FPS maybe more. Games now-a-days are built off of 256MB Vid cards and128MB are getting obsolete

get the eVGA 6600GT

eVGA! You're comparing a 6600GT to a 6600, the eVGA 6600GT would kill the 6600.
Not bad at all...

I was thinking the same thing, unless there's something that the Asus card has that the eVga is weak in, or just doesn't have.

Yea, for only $10 more, then the rebate, I'd shoot for the eVga 6600GT. I have one, and it works perfectly fine.

Thx for the help, I think I will go with the 6600gt. I am trying to think still if it is better to have more memory or faster speeds. I am looking for more fps too.
