How disappointing. I know people say that 3DMark06 is cpu heavy so if I overclock I'd hit higher numbers, regardless I'm not where I should be.

I believe, stock xfired 5870s perform slightly better then our 5970.

What do you believe it could be? I did setup my CCC to maximize quality rather then performance or a hybrid. Could this be the culprit?

Thanks,
-groovin

Maybe, that could be the problem. Usually, I prefer setting graphic options in game.

I suggest you download and use MSI Afterburner. You may not want to use it to overclock/overvolt or set-up fan threasholds, but you can at least monitor each GPU and it's relative performance. See if each is wealding 100% GPU usage when needed.

I'll go ahead and get it and check my %'s.

I just retested right now with default settings and got 19481, so it did come up but its still less then the average 22k.

Anyhow going to bed now, thanks for your input. I'll post updates later.

Thanks,
-groovin

Can anyone help explain to me why my temps are so low? I know it's odd to complain of low temperatures but I can't seem to make my 5970 hit 70°c. I'm running Furmark at 1920x1200 all settings maxed, xtreme burning mode, and full screen. At stock clocks temps barely touch 60c, and overclocked to 950/1250 they level off at 66°c.Here's the screenshot. (The large black area is Furmark running on my other screen, it didn't come out for whatever reason)

I tried BFBC2 and the Heaven Benchmark, neither made the card hit 60°c. As a side note, I think the fan monitor is broken, it always reads 30% regardless of how high it is. However, I can control the speed via the Afterburner user defined fan % graph thing. I left it at 50% for the stress testings. Ambient temp is 22°c so I don't think that played a big roll. The whole low temp thing is confusing me because it seems that established benchmarks from reviews hit mid 80s at stock clocks. Any thoughts?

I also noticed my HD5970 is pretty fresh. But this has started after the 10.4a Preview drivers came out, before those, the card was pretty hot almost at 90ºC with a fan speed of 30% (Manual, I never put it above Love silent Pc xD).

Now with speed fan of 30% it never hits 75ºC O.o and Iddle temps went from almost 50ºC to like 35ºC, almost same as my old Sapphire HD5850 Toxic.

Hey same thing here I get 28 idle and 65C tops while gaming or benchmarking (850 / 1200 tho)
