Tbh, this card cool great for me stock, I am really impressed.
yes, the stock fan cools very good (down from 70 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius in like 90 seconds)
but it's extremely loud on maximum.
at 50% fan speed it's still the loudest noise coming out of my case..

I use Afterburner as well. Frankly I see no need to OC this card for everyday use, there are zero games that will phase it on max settings at any resolution, including Crysis (the game by which all GPUs are measured, but I bet nobody plays).

That said, I like to push it anyway, because I can, and this is OCN. So far I got to 900/1300 with 1.162v, Furmark/3DM06 stable.

My fan profile is 25% from 0-54c, next marker 45%/70c, 60%/75c, 70%/84c, and straight jump to 100% if it goes above that. When gaming I usually hit about 65-70c max, and the fan never goes above 50%. Idling at 25% keeps me at 50c - I don't need to idle at sub zero temps at the expense of my sanity.

Ran the re5 benck last night at 2 different clock speeds. The first at stock and the second at 850/1200.

Results were 100.7 average fps for stock and 100.4 at 850/1200 .

Is it possible your CPU is bottlenecking the card? I'd say spend another hundred on a decent motherboard and OC that Q6600 to at least 3.0ghz. You don't need a new CPU (contrary to what I've seen people tell you), you just need to make the most out of the one you have.

I have another rig with a Q6600 on a 780i, with 4gb ddr2 and 2 8800gts 512 (g92). It's still a beast, frankly I don't notice much real world performance increase with the new i7 setup, other than e-peen, since the old setup runs everything super smooth still. The only real difference is gaming, I've had to slowly lower my settings over time(mostly AA), but always at 19x12. In fact I think I'll slap this 5970 into the 780i and run a 3dm to compare.

If I were you I wouldn't upgrade anything but the motherboard, and possibly a small SSD, that's it.

Yes yes, the title is fine. What needs attention is this tired sig banner lol
Oh and what did you ask the mod? Whether your sig breaks the ToS by like 5 lines? hehe

now im ''PISSED''

the company i was now buying my card on ''pre-order'' (after the fiasco i had with the last one) has finally debited my account..

i get a phone call at work from the wife, screaming & shouting at me b/c her moneys been taken from the account, my GF was in the supermarket with a full trolley of food & had to put a fair bit back

i had £500 of mine in there & she had £70, the ''e-tailor'' took a total of £530, when the card should of cost £490 shipped...

so i shoot home quickly so i can abuse someone in customer support, they told me.....

''im sorry sir @ 2.30pm yesterday the card prices went up''

me......'' WHAT!! i pre-ordered at a set price''

them....''b/c we never debited your account there was no agreement made''

so i said.......''right, if you can get the card to me by tomorrow morning i'll bite the bullet & pay that extra cash''

them......''sorry sir, we cant do that for you''

so not only did they charge me an extra £40 they expected me to wait 5 working days for it...

so i told them to stick the card, i will not be extorted BLATANTLY b/c demand is high... so ive now got NO CARD coming

is so pissed off, im just hoping next week will see some on the shelf & i can just grab one.

That sucks skunk
Was it scan? never known them to do that.
navit...replied. And yeah, your sig is pretty big, so you need to shorten that before a mod sees it (For future reference I'm not a mod BTW, I just edit things and produce/manage resources )

hi mate.......

no it was ''e-buyer'' , i'd love to be able to use ''scan'' the service has ALWAYS been excellent, but their cards are far too rich for my tastes...

cmon ATI, next week i wanna see some ''in stock'' info from some of these sites , i wish i was a patient man when it came to GPUs, i'd save myself a mint & get the card i want.
