Need help buying memory!

Thread Starter
Hey guys I need some help buying memory.
I can't decide between 2X512 or 2X1 GB. Whatever I choose i will need to stay under $200. Are there any good 2X1GB sticks out there? I will mainly use it for gaming and graphic designs. I want to overclock it a bit. But i have no problem setting it on a divider! (will a divider slow it down alot). K basically my most important question is will 2X1gb stick on a divider give me better performance than 2X512 sticks? Also could you guys give me some links to good sticks under 200$.. I know I need to go for TCCD for the 2X512.

well if you go 2x1gb to get good stuff you'll probably go over your 200 limit by a bit. newegg has some good 1gb sticks.
Check out OCZ platinum 3200 or G-skill extreme edition 3200. both are in the 210 rang or so. (the OCZ's have a rebate)

for 512. I'd reccomend either OCZ platinum rev. 2 or some g-skill.

If possible spend the little more $$$ and do the better 2x1G.
soloz2 is on the money with the push for the volume and better timings... demanding progs/games will benefit from it!

Keep in mind that these are rated at DDR400 and are not guaranteed up to DDR600. If you look further in the thread that metalkobra posted, you will see that some people can't even hit DDR500 with these things, so don't be disappointed if you hit a wall early on. Those RAM sticks use Infineon CE-6 chips, and their yields have been highly unpredictable as of late.

Yeah Im a little weary of buying them myself, I cant find a good solid 2gb kit...but this is the closest thing to a good 2gb overclocker you can get.
