Agent_551, you haven't factored in tax and shipping. Or a monitor, or Windows. Or a mouse, keyboard, optical drive, or speakers.

buying those things should be up to the user. I think we can recommend one, but saying which one is better is usually opinion. There are all kinds of price ranges and qualities of those components.

so i went an itsy bit over BUT this memory is better and cheaper than the 1600mhz crap ppl keep posting and the 5770's will keep you up to par with the latest games for a LONG time. also, i would be under budget if you got rid of the corsair h50 cpu cooler BUT i know for a fact that it will cool that i7 860 very well.

EDIT: i just read that you are buying from those other 2 stores....

And I agree, which is why I didn't include any in my suggestions, but he filled the $1200 budget without those things, which isn't really going to fly.

Okay, but you filled the budget and left out $400 worth of stuff. That goes beyond 'matter of preference'.

If possible I'd like my power supply to be a modular one so I can atleast attempt to have some kind of cable management in the case.

I just built a ~$1200 rig for a friend with pretty much the same requirements.

Look for the bundle deals on NCIX. New sale starts tonight, so hopefully they will have a good amd bundle.

You're probably going to be looking at a Phenom II X3 build with 4GB DDR3, a 500GB HDD, HD 5770, 500W PSU, a decent mid tower like the CM690 or Antec 300, and a 21.5" 1080p monitor.
